We are thrilled to be working with an innovative BioTech based in London who are recruiting for an Engineering Manager to oversee a team of software engineers and data professionals.
Their platform combines human and machine intelligence to accelerate the discovery of next-generation therapeutic antibodies. By integrating data science, robotic automation, and synthetic biology, this company aims to radically improve and speed up the drug discovery process.
What you’ll be doing
The Software Engineering team is responsible for building software that glues together the therapeutic drug development platform. From making tools that help the team experiment as efficiently as possible, to building a high-quality experimental data platform, software is key to their success. You will be leading a team of 4-6 Software and Data Engineers, ensuring they remain motivated, engaged, and focused on delivering exceptional results. Collaborate with the CTO to define the software strategy and roadmap, making key tactical decisions and setting high standards for development practices. Take ownership of driving and executing the company's software strategy, while supporting your team with regular feedback, addressing performance issues, and recognizing their unique strengths and contributions. Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring alignment with technical requirements, timelines, and budget constraints. Foster a culture of continuous improvement across code quality, architecture, processes, and team workflows.
What experience you’ll need
* Experience leading, coaching and mentoring engineers (4+ reports).
* Product and project management experience and skills: setting roadmaps, being organised and disciplined, showing attention to detail, and following up to ensure the right results.
* Strong foundations in software engineering, software design, and architecture.
* Experience building secure/scalable platforms/products on cloud platforms.
* An empathetic leadership style and you build strong, effective relationships.
* Good experience working with teams and stakeholders from a laboratory/scientific background.
* Good experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience partnering with research and data science/bioinformatics or cheminformatics teams.
* Experience partnering with executive stakeholders.
* Experience in the life sciences industry, ideally a pharma or biotechnology company.
* Familiarity with LIMS and ELN systems and their use in biotechnology companies.
