Job Description : We are looking for an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded primary school in Trafford. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have SEMH needs, providing tailored support to help them engage with their learning, improve their emotional regulation, and develop positive social skills. You will be an integral part of the team, working alongside teachers and other support staff to create a positive, inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities : Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH, helping them to engage with lessons and manage their emotions. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored interventions for students with SEMH. Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and strategies for managing challenging behaviour. Work closely with teachers to adapt lesson plans and learning resources to meet the specific needs of students with SEMH. Build positive relationships with students, offering consistent support and encouragement to help them succeed academically and emotionally. Help maintain a calm and safe classroom environment, using proactive behaviour management strategies. Liaise with parents, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to student support. Monitor and track student progress, reporting regularly to the class teacher and SENCO. Promote the overall wellbeing of students and contribute to their personal development. Key Requirements : Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly with students who have SEMH or other behavioural needs. Strong knowledge of SEMH and proven strategies for supporting students with emotional and behavioural challenges. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. A patient, empathetic approach and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. Experience in implementing behaviour management strategies and interventions. A commitment to supporting students to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) is desirable.
