We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to join our central marketing and insights team to support the business in the development of understanding market landscape, drivers, trends, competition, and shopper behaviour to enable the business to provide recommendations to our key customers, alongside strengthening our customer relationships and continuing to be a Category partner of choice to the retailers.
Key responsibilities for our Category Manager:
1. Be the category lead for several G's categories and with our customers.
2. Lead category U&A research projects and use resulting insight to generate growth focused plans.
3. Support Joint Business Planning with commercial and product management teams with a particular emphasis on range reviews, EPD and NPD and broader category projects.
4. Ensure that the correct product matrix, marketing, and promotional activities are in place across all channels (In Store, Online, Convenience etc) within Grocery.
5. Contribute to the annual planning cycle and longer-term commercial strategy.
6. Building a strong relationship with the trade planning and merchandising teams across all key customers within Grocery.
7. Represent G's business with authenticity, gravitas, and pride.
8. Aid management of the relationships with data suppliers and the company's insight budget.
9. Supporting the wider commercial team with objective category specific requests.
Candidate requirements for our Category Manager:
1. FMCG experience in category management in a blue-chip or large SME environment with a good knowledge of the UK FMCG market.
2. Highly analytical, comfortable working with a wide range of data to make fact-based decisions, you can translate insight into concrete customer marketing actions and have an ability to 'see beyond the data' to make good commercial decisions.
3. Results-orientated and entrepreneurial. You can develop strategies based on real world insight.
4. An ambitious, driven individual with an entrepreneurial nature looking to take their category management career to the next level.
5. A solid foundation in marketing, ideally with recognised qualification.
6. Ability to work with continuous (e.g., Kantar, Nielsen, IRI, Dunnhumby Nectar loyalty) or ad hoc market and consumer data and to put the 'Customer First' to identify opportunities for the business and retailers.
7. Demonstrates an ability to convince others of one's point of view and ideas to take action that will advance shared interests and business goals. Able to challenge thinking and decision making internally & externally.
8. Strong relationship builder, you can drive cross-functional collaboration across internal and external teams.
9. Strong presenting and communication skills teamed with outstanding collaboration and people skills.
10. Ability to prioritise a complex customer agenda with multiple touch points.
