Due to the continued success and expansion of Magdalene we have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer to join our team in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. You will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with 1 week out of 4 on call to support the 24 hour NOC department. Who are we? The role & responsibilities: A key customer-facing role, providing 3rdline support expertise across the SPEN Strategic Telecoms Network, with core skills in technical fault resolution on PDH, SDH and IP technologies as well as copper, fibre and radio networks. The role includes identifying and resolving trend and problem issues from the SPEN network management platforms as well as historical data. The role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to business quality processes including, the Service Restoration Tracker, Acceptance into Service and Routine Maintenance. Further to this the role encompasses network development activities including both hardware and software working with 3rdparty suppliers and internal departments. Ability to effectively operate and integrate into a customer environment showing strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of enthusiasm You will: 3rdline support for NOC shift engineers. Trend & Problemmanagement includingidentification, reporting &resolutionof issues Providing root cause analysis on complex operational faults Ensuring governance of businessquality processes within the NOC environment. Carrying out network analysis and completion of technicalreports Liaise between internal departments, 3rdparty suppliers&customers within agreed SLA??s Drive improvement initiatives to conclusion within agreed timescales. Provide input and sign off around acceptance into service for all new projects What we need from you. Capable of working to 3rd line support level on OSS, PDH, SDH & IP technologies. Skilled in networks including copper, fibre and radio infrastructure Structured approach to governance on complex networks Understanding of network management and use of Network Management Platform tools. Understanding of Electricity Supply Industry Protection and Real Time Systems Operations and equipment would be a definite benefit Essential: Knowledge and experience of supporting network management systems and their servers Knowledge of network protocols Experience of PDH, SDH & IP network protocols. Installation, commissioning & maintenance of diverse telecoms networks with ability to trouble shoot to 3rdline. Professional at all times, self-motivated team player. Flexible & Customer centric HND or equivalent with relevant telecoms experience Experience of working in a Telecoms environment Desirable Copper, Fibre and Radio infrastructure support. Network management platforms triage and fault progression Relevant manufacturers qualifications (Cisco, Alcatel, Avara) Experience of working in a NOC in a 3rdline support role.
