Are you an apprentice trained Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about problem solving and maintenance in a world leading manufacturing plant?
At Saint-Gobain we are looking for a Shift Mechanical Craft to work in our Engineering Team. You’ll be responsible for the mechanical engineering activities when on shift in order to keep production running, for us to be able to deliver to our customers on time every time.
This Shift Mechanical Craft will be a part of our shift production team. The Shift Mechanical Craft will be the sole mechanical expert at times and will therefore possess the initiative to solve problems, perform repairs, and collaborate with production as well as the wider engineering team.
You will be working 12 hour shifts following a rotating pattern including days and nights. In reward for your experience you will have access to some amazing benefits and a generous salary.
What we’re looking for:
1. Apprentice trained mechanical engineer with experience in a production or manufacturing setting
2. Minimum NVQ Level III qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline
3. Experience of welding, fabricating, bench fitting and machining
4. A continuous improvement mindset
5. Excellent communication and the ability to solve problems and collaborate with the shift electrician and other teams
What you will be doing:
1. Reactive and planned engineering works on equipment including but not limited to: Grinding mills, palletisers, process equipment and belt and screw conveyors
2. Use root cause analysis to solve problems and communicate relevant data to prevent reoccurrence regarding maintenance problems
3. Autonomous maintenance tasks
4. Welding and fabrication tasks where necessary
5. Liaise with contractors and shift electrician, working collaboratively on projects
