We are currently looking for a Maintenance Operative to join our team at AASC, Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contracts. As the Maintenance Operative your key accountabilities will include: To provide building maintenance services to a designated area / or number of properties To report faults using the IT system to ensure all faults are reported and closed for their property portfolio The role of the MO is to ensure that all properties under their control are free from building defects as defined under the Home Office Contract Liaison with external sub-contractors to ensure access can be obtained, works are completed to agreed standards and the sub-contractors operatives are approved. To undertake audit samples of external suppliers work and report findings. To undertake once a year a Portable Appliance Test (PAT) for any properties in their area for all properties To provide specialist trade services in accordance with certified standards and experience To provide technical advice and support to the maintenance section relevant to your trade in order to ensure all current standards are met under the contract To provide the property on-boarding team with trade sign offs for the relevant specialist trade To ensure that the safety of all users of the property from a building standards is achieved To check all relevant property reports before undertaking works in the properties (e.g. asbestos, dangerous persons,) or request additional reports if deemed appropriate by the MO (e.g. structural report, asbestos survey / test etc.) Where possible to repair all Serco supplied furniture or ensure furniture is replaced to comply with the Home Office Contract To only purchase materials from approved Serco suppliers and keep receipts for all transactions to identify and record what materials are used for each job / property Where specified only purchase the agreed Serco standard material’s unless alternative substitutions can be provide due to stock requirements To obtain Managers approval for the Hire or purchase of any plant or tools over £100 to undertake any maintenance repair To ensure appropriate receipts are obtained and recoded for each property / job completed In return we can offer a supportive and collaborative environment that respects work/life balance and ultimately contributes to the delivery of vital public services in the UK. Flexible Working pattern Mon to Fri 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 18:00 to meet the operational needs of the business. What you'll need to do the role A willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK (a valid UK driver’s licence is essential) Tradesperson experience (Desirable) You will be a highly motivated individual who can manage your own workflow as well as working within a team when necessary. On –Call Requirements & Out of Hours Working There will be a requirement to be on call and undertake out of hours working to agreed rosters and in accordance with the out of hours local operating procedure to provide a 24 hour and 7 day a week maintenance service Why Serco?
