Senior Transport Supervisor
Menzies Distribution have an immediate start available for a Transport Senior Supervisor to join us, providing a first class service with our team in Normanton. You will be responsible for managing and executing the day 1 plan ensuring all work is distributed whilst complying with Transport Legislation, Health & Safety and customer service requirements. You will ensure that the drivers deliver the customer's products on time and in full using the most cost effective means possible and make best use of the available resources including maximizing the utilisation of all Menzies Drivers in line with current driver hours and WTD legislation. The successful candidate will also Track and Trace all runs to ensure that once dispatched the drivers arrive at the customer premises within the agreed time windows and using ESP compliance, ensure that all jobs are built, resourced and managed correctly in the ESP system. As the decision maker for transport operations and support for supervisor on shift, the role will require a competent person to make efficient operational/financial decisions “one step ahead” thinking.
The Details:
Salary: £40,000 Per Annum / £17.09 Per Hour
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday
Hours: 21:00-06:00 / 45 Hours Per Week

Key Duties and Accountabilities (will include but not be limited to):
1. Liaise with planners to ensure that all relevant customer deliveries utilise the resources available at site to ensure delivery windows are met.
2. Through liaising with your Site Planners & Track and Trace that you are fully aware of any delays and possible issues with deliveries to customer or IDT sites.
3. Liaise with the Customer as required in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery through customer service team or through Out of hours process.
4. Develop back haul lanes with both Menzies depots and 3rd party customers whilst maintaining fleet utilization where possible to protect vehicle earnings.
5. Source local agency drivers as and when required (in conjunction with our PSL) providing an accurate brief of job required (on day ops).
6. Source local sub contractors as and when required (on day ops).
7. Ensure that Site Planners are aware that the loads meet safety standards.
8. Manage the Site Planners ensuring they are using the most efficient start times for all day drivers and tramper drivers - feedback any day 1 issues that affect day 2 planning.
9. Ensure adequate Pre-Briefing of Drivers is taking place to ensure that they fully understand their instructions.
10. Ensure adequate De-Briefing of Drivers upon their return to ensure that all documentation has been completed correctly.
11. Ensure your Site Planners are compliant with Working Time Directive and any driver over the 48 hour avg is managed accordingly within the relevant reference period and escalate any issues.
12. Regularly Download Driver cards for analysis - in line with company and legal requirements.
13. Comply with all Transport legislation reducing tachograph infringements to below the company target - Speaking to drivers about infringements and completing sign off OOH.
14. Conduct regular meetings/ reviews including probation assessments and return to work interviews with all drivers.
15. Ensure compliance with Agency Driver checklist and agency induction paperwork/packs.
16. Communicate routes to and liaise with other Menzies Depots when needed through phone call and email.
17. Record trailer information on all inbound/outbound deliveries and stand trailers daily and upload to OSS.
18. Manage all comms on Haulage Hub for day 1 plan. Regular check of HH inbox to see capture 3rd party subbie issues on the road.
19. Support Ops Manager by providing all day 1 operational issues across all site contracts for daily calls and business updates.
20. Complete the required daily updates for.
21. Fully understand and communicate agreed customer KPI's for all site contracts.
22. Manage vehicle & personal accidents, reporting thoroughly and escalate where necessary.
23. Transport Lead on a night shift and responsible & accountable for all site H&S.
24. All other general transport office related duties.
Key Experience and Qualifications:

4. Transport CPC (Desirable).
