We have a fantastic opportunity for a Plant Area / Buying Manager to join our esteemed and independent garden Centre in Inverness, Scotland. If you have extensive horticultural knowledge and purchasing experience, this full-time, permanent position could be your perfect next step.
Responsibilities
* Leading and managing a small team of dedicated staff
* Driving plant quality and sales and supporting related initiatives
* Providing face-to-face sales assistance and managing customer enquiries
* Collaborating with suppliers to ensure well-stocked departments that meet customer demand
* Maintaining high standards of presentation, merchandising, and pricing strategies
* Attending trade shows including foreign locations and purchasing large quantities of suitable plants
* Site visits
Key Qualifications:
* Strong horticultural knowledge and experience
* Proven supervisory or managerial experience in a garden centre or similar environment
* Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop a team
* Ability to confidently buy large quantities of plants for multiple sites
* Energetic, creative, and positive attitude
* Strong IT and numeracy skills
* Full UK driving licence
This role is ideal for someone currently holding a Plant Buyer / Manager position or a similar role, ready to advance their career. You will bring energy, creativity, and a passion for engaging with the public, ensuring our garden centre continues to flourish. Please note that regular weekend work on a rotational basis will be required.
