About the role | He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga
The key purpose of the Behaviour Support Specialist role is to deliver quality services based on a positive behaviour support framework which is consistent with our contract obligations with the Ministry of Health and other providers as required. The role is based in Nelson.

4. People with a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or at least 3 years relevant experience in the disability field
5. Occupational Therapists
6. Speech and Language Therapists
7. Social Workers
8. Psychologists
9. Behaviour Therapists/Specialists (BCBA's)
10. Teachers
What you will bring | Ngā tohungatanga mō tēnei tūranga
11. Experience in the field of disability and/or behaviour support
12. A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) where this is required
13. An understanding of and commitment to: The Code of Health and Disabilities Services Consumer Rights, The Treaty of Waitangi and bi-cultural practice
14. Good interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport; proactive and responsive to client needs and colleagues/team needs
15. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including competence in professional report writing
16. A current full New Zealand driver's licence
17. Proven ability to work in teams and in a 'transdisciplinary' manner
18. Knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence-based behavioural approaches
19. An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support
20. An understanding of communication and the relationship with behaviour
21. Experience of functional assessment and implementation of a behaviour plan
22. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and client management systems
