Job summary
Velindre Cancer Centre has an opportunity for an experienced oncology nurse to work within our integrated care directorate. This ward-based role will allow the flexibility of day and night working on a weekly basis.
The post holder will be required to show oncology knowledge, leadership and coaching skills to a dedicated workforce, understanding and provide delivery of SACT, be able to support and provide education to junior staff, ensuring patient safety to inpatients and provide advice to our Treatment Helpline calls out of hours. The role requires the candidate to be the senor nurse on site at night, with the ability to identify and address clinical situations. The post holder will need to demonstrate best practice and clinical care and maintain high standards.
Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible for the management of the Velindre Cancer Centre site at night
2. To be responsible for deployment of and performance of staff and teaching/support of students.
3. The post holder is responsible in collaboration with the Head of Nursing, Quality, Patient Experience and Integrated Care for providing an effective service within agreed budget allocation.
4. Responsible for ensuring compliance with agreed nursing policies and procedures.
5. Responsible for the management of ward staff and bank staff during the night shift.
6. Responsible for providing strong clinical leadership and managerial support to the staff during the night in order to provide safe and excellent care to patients and their families.
7. Provide clinical support and expertise that enhances patient focussed care embracing the Fundamentals of Care and Transforming Care.
8. To work in partnership with the on call medical team to ensure that clinical care is prioritised and delivered according to protocols, policies and procedures.
