Job Title: Quantity Surveyor Location: Oldham Company Description: Our client is a leading specialist contractor who operate within the critical infrastucture sector. Offering the full turnkey solution; design & build, core & shell, they work across many sectors and projects, such as education, healthcare, banking, defence etc. Acting as principal contractor, they generally deal with end clients and work with many blue-chip companies in the UK and Europe. A typical project would be to oversee the installation of electrical & mechanical building services into data centre environments. With a strong commitment to delivering high-quality projects, they have established themselves as a key player in the industry and their portfolio of projects & blue-chip clients is growing rapidly. Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough cost analysis and provide accurate estimates for construction projects. Manage and monitor project budgets, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial guidelines. Collaborate with project teams to assess and mitigate potential risks related to cost and contracts. Prepare and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers. Provide ongoing financial updates and reports to project stakeholders. Conduct occasional site visits (this is largely an office-based role) to assess progress, identify variations, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Work closely with the project management team to optimize financial performance and achieve project objectives. Qualifications and Skills: Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management, and procurement processes. NEC & JCT contract experience advantageous. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Proficient in the use of relevant software tools for quantity surveying. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
