Mountainview High School is seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Physical Education and Sport to lead our vibrant department. Mountainview High School offers a supportive and inclusive environment where staff and students are encouraged to excel in all areas of school life.
As the Head of Physical Education and Sport, you will:
* Lead and manage the physical education and sport department, overseeing curriculum planning, resource allocation, and teacher development.
* Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across various year levels, inspiring students to develop a lifelong love for physical activity, health, and well-being.
* Promote and coordinate school-wide sporting events, teams, and competitions, fostering a strong culture of participation and excellence.
* Mentor and support staff within the department, ensuring professional growth and the sharing of best practices.
* Oversee student achievement in NCEA Physical Education and ensure assessment processes meet NZQA standards.
* Contribute to the wider school community through leadership in sports programs and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Curriculum Leadership: Ensure the PE and Sport curriculum is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum Framework and school goals.
* Team Management: Lead and support the professional development and performance appraisal of PE and Sport staff.
* Student Success: Foster high achievement and participation in physical education, both in the classroom and through extracurricular activities.
* Resource and Budget Management: Manage the department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and supporting the acquisition of new equipment.
* Event Coordination: Organise and oversee school-wide sports events, inter-whānau competitions, and other sports initiatives.
