Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse within Ward 1B (AMU). We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and self-motivated Band 5 with a 'can do' mindset and a strong interest in patient flow. AMU comprises of 1C and 1B, 1C has 4 enhanced care beds and 1B GP Assessment unit which consists of 8 cubicles, 6 trollies, 6 treatment chairs and an ambulatory care room. An Enhanced DBS Certificate, with the checking of both the Children's and Adults' Barred Lists is required for this post. Main duties of the job To act as clinical expert for nursing issues. To supervise junior staff in the delivery of safe competent care. Take appropriate action to address any issues or risk. Promote a patient focused multi-disciplinary approach to care in collaboration with carers, health care professionals and other AHPs. Ensure a safe and timely discharge / transfer of patients. Ensure that treatment prescribed by the medical team is carried out and that changes in patient condition are escalated as appropriate. Assist in ensuring there is timely and appropriate patient flows within the unit. Act as advocate for the patient, respecting dignity, wishes and beliefs.
