POSITION SUMMARY:
We're seeking an experienced and driven Lead Engineer - Homologation to join our Whole Vehicle Verification team. In this pivotal role, you will lead homologation projects, ensuring our vehicle designs comply with legislative requirements and maintain conformity throughout the product lifecycle. This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert guidance across the business, collaborate with approval authorities, and represent our organization in legislative forums. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
1. Take ownership of homologation for assigned platforms/territories, managing certification, maintenance, conformity of production, and updates aligned with customer or internal changes.
2. Monitor and analyse legislative requirements for current and new markets, providing regular updates, guidance, and impact analysis to internal stakeholders.
3. Compile compliance evidence for self-certification markets and evaluate Conformity of Production safeguards, raising concerns as necessary.
4. Participate in tender reviews, specification reviews, and design compliance meetings, contributing to timing and budget proposals for sales tenders.
5. Support the development of the Homologation team's capabilities through training and on-the-job assistance.
6. Provide legislative support across the business, including creating design guides, delivering training, and offering expert interpretations.
7. Act as the company's representative to Type Approval authorities and legislative forums in the UK, Europe, and globally as required.
8. Manage allocated projects, including resource management, time and cost analysis, and progress reporting through agreed channels.
9. Collaborate with Engineering teams to access necessary data and documentation using company systems.
10. Explore alternative homologation strategies by studying relevant materials and attending product shows when permitted.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
1. Competent understanding of UK, European and Federal homologation procedures.
2. Computer literate (Microsoft 365 essential).
3. Good verbal and written communication skills.
4. Proven Experience of Type Approval process and close working with Type Approval Authorities.
5. Good knowledge of body and chassis systems.
6. Minimum 5 years' experience in an Automotive Engineering environment or similar with at least 3 years' experience in Homologation preferred.
7. Experience of managing multiple complex projects with internal and external resource.
8. Valid UK driving license desirable.
9. Valid Passport desirable.
10. PSV driving licence desirable.
11. Willing to travel frequently desirable, with possible domestic and international secondments.
