We are looking for a driven and hardworking Room Leader, providing an emotionally secure, warm, stimulating, and safe environment appropriate to the needs of individual children. There must be excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the ability to disseminate it to staff working on that floor.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To provide a wide and varied range of activities for the children, individually and as a group, appropriate to their needs and developmental stage.
2. Ensuring routines are being followed and run smoothly.
3. Ensuring new decisions are taken on board and maintained across the rooms at all times.
4. Ensuring that all relevant handovers happen between rooms and daily diaries are completed before children leave at the end of the session.
5. Ensuring that all policies and procedures are being followed by all staff.
6. Understanding all policies and procedures of the nursery and being able to answer relevant questions from parents/carers/outside agencies (i.e., OFSTED).
7. Manage staff effectively, ensuring ratios are maintained throughout the floor.
8. Ensure that the room layouts and resources provide the best learning environment for the children.
9. Have a sound knowledge of all the children in the setting and an excellent knowledge of your key children.
10. Work in partnership with parents, consulting and sharing information with them about the needs and progress of their children.
11. Filling in all the appropriate record keeping for the key child and ensuring they are continually up to date.
12. To undertake training and give appropriate feedback to the staff team and implement it in the nursery.
13. To exercise a general duty of care for work colleagues and to be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees/students under your supervision.
14. Inform the management team of any concerns/safeguarding issues regarding the children, parents, or other staff.
