Through sharing wisdom from their own experience, the Peer Support Worker will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. It will be important that the Peer Support Worker feels that through their own experience they can help and support the service users with what they are going through. The role will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users in order for them to regain control over their lives and their own unique recovery process. Within a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, they will promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of personally valued roles and connection to local communities. This team is a small team providing a psychologically led trauma informed service made up of a Mental Health Nurse, a Mental Health Midwife and Psychologists so you will have a lot of support within this role. The role is 2 days a week which will include a Tuesday (based at Prince Philip House for the team meeting) and another day (which can be based onsite, working from home or in the community) Please note that possessing a UK driving licence and means to drive is an essential requirement for this role, any applicants without a driving licence and car will not be considered. Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities) The Maternal Mental Health Team see clients who have experienced a Perinatal loss so people who have lost a pregnancy at any stage, or whose baby has died for any reason. Therefore, we see clients who currently have no living baby or who are pregnant again after having experienced a loss and are very anxious about losing another baby. In addition to Establishing supportive, positive and respectful relationships with all people you come in contact with. Providing peer support, maintaining professional boundaries. Helping people identify recovery goals themselves. Supporting service users to identify and overcome fears within a relationship of empathy and trust. Undertaking appropriate administrative duties for delivering effective and timely care, including updating patient records.
