We are delighted to offer this opportunity to join the Cardiology Department at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals (NHS) Foundation Trust as a Consultant Cardiologist.
Main duties of the job
This is a new and exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic and progressive Cardiology Department as a Consultant in Cardiology at Wirral University Teaching Hospital (NHS) Foundation Trust (WUTH).
The post-holder would join a team of seven Consultant Cardiologists each with varying specialty interests. In addition there is a compliment of one Associate Specialist, one Senior Staff Grade, one Clinical Fellow and three Specialist Registrars (2 x ST3 and 1 50:50 NIHR Clinical Lecturer post).
There has been an on-site invasive cardiology and permanent pacemaker implantation service for over 20 years. There is a well-developed non-invasive service including cardiac CT and 3-D complex echocardiography including stress echocardiography and 3-D TOE. Education is well-supported and research is strongly encouraged. There are regular MDT meetings with cardiac surgeons/interventional cardiologist and electrophysiologists from Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital.

Qualifications/Training
Essential
1. MRCP or equivalent
2. Licence to practice
3. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via o CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months) o CESR or o European Community Rights
Desirable
4. Higher research degree or in the process of obtaining a higher research degree
5. Signed off for sub-specialty interest in Imaging, Echo, TOE, CT, MRI
Experience

6. Wide experience in elective and emergency Cardiology in the UK up to the standard expected of CCT

7. Evidence of practice at consultant or sub-consultant, senior StR level for a reasonable period of time. Previous Fellowships or extended training
