RTL Group are currently supporting a major contractor in their search for a highly skilled site engineer to work on a highways project running for 6 months in Redditch.
Reporting to the Agent, you will be responsible for ensuring that the works elements under your control are delivered to the correct quality and in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. You will work collaboratively with the wider project team to deliver successful project outcomes.
What will I be doing?
1. Supervise the works to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained.
2. In conjunction with the engineers and surveyors, ensure all setting out is present and correct before work starts and mentor the Junior Engineers as required.
3. Setting out drainage, kerbs, surfacing, etc.
4. Ensure ITPs are in place prior to works commencing and followed/completed during the works.
5. In conjunction with the discipline Supervisor, ensure that plant, labour, and materials for each item of work are identified and available in good time.
6. Review the drawings and specifications to identify errors and omissions and bring these to the attention of the project team via TQs.
7. Maintain program and identify opportunities. Record resources and monitor outputs against program.
8. Communicate with the project team regarding issues of non-conformances and contractual correspondence, maintaining comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works.
9. Keep a full and accurate daily diary, including any changes/variations, specialist attendances. Upload all daily diary reports onto BC and provide the construction manager/senior agent/works manager with an emailed report at the end of each night shift.
About you
1. Civil Engineering related qualification (HNC, HND, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng).
2. Able to provide suitable experience delivering complex structures/roadworks.
3. Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
4. Relevant CSCS Card.
5. Other relevant training (preferred includes Appointed Person, relevant lifting training, temporary works co-ordination, and first aid/fire marshal).
6. Understanding of Engineering Principles and extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
7. Knowledge of construction contracts and forms of contract through formal training.
8. Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system, Primavera software).
