Mechanical Engineer Overview
Axis is a family run business and an exciting company to work for, with R&D at its forefront. Due to an ever-growing order book, and continual research and development projects, we wish to recruit an additional Mechanical Engineer to our team. The successful candidate will be part of the Implementation Team, who are responsible for manufacturing our Mushroom harvesting equipment. The role also includes working with the Design Team on R&D projects to further our current product range, bringing new products to market. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel internationally, as required, depending on the project and customer site location.
Main Responsibilities
1. Manufacture and assembly of Axis Harvesting systems
2. Installation and commissioning of systems on customer sites (Internationally as required)
3. Post installation customer support and troubleshooting
4. Work with Design Engineers to streamline the assembly of machines
5. Liaise with the R&D team to refine and extend our product range
6. Participate in R&D projects, contributing to the design, production and testing of new products and concepts
Essential Skills and Requirements
1. Willingness and ability to travel
2. Precision engineering experience
3. Read detailed engineering drawings for manufacture
4. Experience in sheet metal/stainless/aluminium fabrication
5. Maintain technical specifications
6. Demonstrable engineering expertise
7. Ability to improve products or services by applying professional knowledge
8. Strong attention to detail, good organisational skills and time management skills
9. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
10. Ability to build, install and commission our current products
11. Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
12. Work on own initiative and as part of a team
13. Overtime as required to meet project deadlines
14. An awareness of general Health and Safety regulations
Desirable Skills and Requirements
1. CAD Drawing and Solidworks Modelling experience preferable
2. Welding and Fabrication experience (stainless, TIG, MIG, Manual Arc etc)
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of 5 years post qualification engineering experience
NVQ Level 3 or higher.
HNC/HND, Degree in Mechanical Engineering desirable
