JOB INTRODUCTION
Are you a Public Liaison Officer looking to join our team in the Southern UK region?
Founded in 1968, Griffiths is a sustainable Construction Contractor that helps connect communities through delivering Road, Rail, Water, and Utilities projects. We pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality projects in a healthy, safe, and sustainable manner to improve people’s everyday lives.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Public Liaison Officer to join the team in Portsmouth. This will be a part-time position over a 20-hour contract, and you will cover projects in Portsmouth and the Hampshire regions. The role will manage key relationships with the company’s neighbours, stakeholders, and the wider community throughout the lifecycle of our projects.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITY
As a Public Liaison Officer, you will report directly to the Future Generations Team within the SHEQ Department and work closely with the scheme project managers.
On a day-to-day basis, the successful Public Liaison Officer duties and responsibilities will include (not exhaustive) the following:
* Develop, implement and manage community liaison, customer care and communication plans.
* Liaise with all key stakeholders including emergency services, local council/councillors and attend stakeholder forums.
* Keep all businesses and stakeholders informed of upcoming works and proposals including traffic management and parking restrictions.
* Take a lead in the preparation, recording and distribution of community engagement materials.
* Work to establish a strong working relationship with the site and Future Generations team to identify potential issues and risks.
* Develop and maintain an effective site visit programme and identify opportunities to showcase performance internally and externally.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will be a Public Liaison Officer who can demonstrate an ability to understand, empathise, and work closely with a local community dealing with a diverse range of issues related to the development of a major highway scheme.
Furthermore, you should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, show proficiency in Microsoft Office, have a full driving licence, and be able to pass a DBS check.
Although not essential, experience working in the construction industry or on civil engineering/building infrastructure projects, being a member of CIPR (or equivalent), and having a CSCS card would be highly beneficial.
