Job Purpose The Medical Director role has two core purposes: The role holder is collectively accountable for the leadership, governance, performance and culture of the UK and Nordics affiliates. This is achieved through developing and delivering an organisation-wide purpose and strategy, inspirational leadership, and the engagement and empowerment of colleagues and customers. As the Director of the Medical team, the role holder is responsible for effective delivery of the medical affairs, regulatory, quality, pharmacolvilance (PV) and medical information functions. Responsibilities To achieve success, it is critical that all Leadership Team members work as a team to deliver the following joint shared accountabilities:- 1. Develop, lead and drive the UK and Nordics strategy and implementation plan to deliver against agreed aspirations and goals. Establish Almirall as a leading dermatology player. 2. Identify and implement the critical changes required to transform into a customer and patient centric organisation embedding commercial, operational, and launch excellence and customer affinity in established and new markets. 3. Participate and contribute to identification and review of commercial opportunities. 4. Embody and embed the core values and behaviours associated with Inspiring Leadership at both a team and individual level and across the organization. Recognise aligned behaviours and ways of working as well as calling out, challenging, and resolving issues when behaviours are not aligned. 5. Lead and embed a culture, way of working and processes that support a fully compliant operational environment. 6. Act as an ambassador of the company with Global and colleagues in other affiliates as well as with customers, other external stakeholders and industry peers. To achieve functional success, the Medical Director owns the following role accountabilities:- 1. Develop and deliver a Medical strategy & plan to ensure the provision of medical leadership including within brand and project teams, strategic input to national & regional market access activities, and implementation of appropriate research initiatives according to the interests and capability of local centres. 2. Lead the functional management in relation to budget management, operational expenditure and resource allocation. 3. Lead, inspire, and coach the team to develop talent and potential and a consistently high standard of competency and engagement enabling team productivity and excellence. 4. Ensure Brand Team excellence from the medical function. 5. Provide local leadership in collaboration with the global functions to ensure effective delivery of the regulatory, quality, PV, medical information and medical affairs functions within the UK and Nordic affiliates. 6. Cross functional, collaborative, proactive approach and solution oriented. 7. In depth Dermatology knowledge including patient perspective. 8. Proactively sharing insights to support company goals for both short and long term 9. Lead and embed a culture, way of working and processes that support a fully compliant operational environment. Functional Responsibilities To achieve success, it is critical that the Medical Director delivers the following responsibilities against each functional role accountability:- 1. Develop and deliver a Medical strategy & plan which consists of the provision of medical support to teams and drive the appropriate research initiatives within the UK, ROI & Nordics. 2. Lead the functional management in relation to budget management, operational expenditure and resource allocation. 3. Lead, inspire and coach the team to develop talent and potential and a consistently high standard of competency and engagement enabling team productivity and excellence. 4. Ensure Brand Team excellence from the medical function. 5. Provide local leadership in collaboration with the global functions to ensure effective delivery of the regulatory, quality, PV, medical information and medical affairs functions within the UK and Nordic affiliates. 6. Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills A Medical Degree or relevant degree/qualification is required Must be either a registered medical practitioner or pharmacist, registered in the UK. Final ABPI Medical Signatory (certifier) required. Working knowledge and understanding of appropriate regulations and Code(s) of Practice. (ABPI/IPHAABHI/PAGB/CAP, other codes, laws and regulations, including Data Protection, Conflicts of interest, Antifraud, Anti Bribery Act, Anticorruption, Competition Law (commercial deals) etc. Experience in medical affairs is required Experience of leading and engaging teams, and change management is required Demonstrated ability to influence relationships and leverage knowledge internally across a matrix structure, to optimise opportunities with stakeholders and achieve shared goals. Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills (continued) Demonstrated ability to deliver results Proven commercial acumen, with clear understanding of the business market dynamics and the ability to accurately assess and communicate medical, regulatory and quality information as necessary Experience in other medical functions (e.g. clinical development, pharmacovigilance, field-based medicine) is preferred Experience in Dermatology through clinical experience, pharmaceutical experience or education is preferred Experience of engagement with external industry organisations is required (e.g. ABPI, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, NICE, PIPA) Computer literacy
