You may be required to work in other designated locations of the Trust as well as your primary base. The Northampton Specialist haemoglobinopathy team currently incorporates Northampton and Kettering; flexibility is required across the two main hospital sites.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
1. Provide specialist nursing support ensuring the quality of care provision to adults who have Haemoglobinopathy disorders using unit protocols and trust policies and guidelines.
2. Work with the multi-professional team to provide patient-focused Haemoglobinopathy services and initiate different forms of treatment for adults and their families in a variety of settings.
3. Create and provide specialist education, training, and information to patients and families.
4. Monitor patient conditions with the multi-professional team.
5. Be responsible for nursing practice development and work alongside the Matron for Haemoglobinopathies to ensure the service is delivered in line with the service specification and within the remit of the allocated budget.
6. Recognise the importance of resource utilisation and ensure maximal use of those available to enable the delivery of the highest standards of care.
7. Focus on specialist education and training for all members of the multidisciplinary team within the service, creating and facilitating training programmes.
8. Be a key member of the team to ensure the implementation of the specialist service specification for Haemoglobinopathy.

Job responsibilities
KEY RESULT AREAS
1. Establish and maintain good positive working relationships with key working relations.
2. Create and facilitate training and support with programmes of education.
3. Lead Haemoglobinopathy training across NGH and KGH.
4. Participate in local, national, and international networking to maintain and develop expert knowledge in the speciality.

1. Manage a caseload of patients, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care.
2. Delegate a caseload of patients to the team.
3. Provide clinical expertise, specialist advice, and support across the service.
4. Demonstrate specialist knowledge, skills, and innovative practice in the specialist area, ensuring the delivery of appropriate evidence-based care.

Research

Service specific
1. Liaison point of contact for patients.
2. Co-ordinate hydroxycarbamide treatment.
3. Education in Emergency Department and Assessment unit, as well as Haematology areas.
GENERAL

Education, Training and Qualifications
1. Educated to Degree level or equivalent level of education, training or experience.
2. Holds an NMC pin.
3. Evidence of post-registration education and development to Masters level or equivalent level of education, training or experience.
