A vacancy has arisen in our West Wing theatre suite. We are actively seeking to appoint a Band 7 RN/ ODP to lead our ENT and Ophthalmology theatres.

Main duties of the job
The West Wing theatre suite provides expertise and excellence in elective and emergency surgery including adult and care of the child. This includes ENT, Ophthalmology, Plastics, Neuro, Paediatric Orthopaedic /General surgery. The operating theatres offer a wide range of general and specialist clinical services with links to the Oxford Universities for education, training, and research. The John Radcliffe represents a dynamic centre on which to build upon clinical experience and professional development.
We have educational opportunities to support your development and career progression embedded into our comprehensive Education Strategy. This initially includes Band 7 competencies, support from your Deputy Matron, band 7 colleagues and the Education team. Once established there are further opportunities to develop your career through academic courses, shadowing senior staff and involvement in cross divisional projects.
This is a full-time post, which includes a commitment to day, weekend/bank holiday working and on-call participation.

Candidates must be clinically excellent in theatre practice and be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities, which includes leading teams to a shared vision and being able to promote innovation and sustainability. You will be required to work collaboratively and flexibly across theatre suites including the John Radcliffe main theatres to accommodate the service demands of each department. Good communication skills are essential to enable you to work alongside senior teams, internal and external to the division to provide a quality patient experience whilst optimizing theatre capacity and utilization. You should be able to evidence an understanding of budgetary management and good financial control.
