What skills and experience we're looking for
An exciting opportunity is available for a dynamic and talented practitioner with a passion and flair for technology to join a successful and vibrant area of our school. We are seeking applications from aspirational colleagues who possess excellent subject knowledge and have enthusiasm for the subject. If you have the skills and knowledge to create and foster an ambitious, innovative culture in technology, we want to hear from you!
Technology is a popular and well supported subject at Ribblesdale. At KS3, our pupils study a range of subject specialisms to prepare them for the different pathways we offer at KS4: GCSE, NCFE and BTEC qualifications. The department boasts a strong team, with three technicians and five specialist teachers, including a Subject Lead for Hospitality and Catering, all with experience of delivering high quality education and achieving outstanding academic outcomes.
Significant investment has taken place over the past decade and the faculty boasts some of the best resources amongst schools across the region. We have a number of 3D printers, 2 laser cutters, 2 fully equipped workshops, a food technology room and a recently refurbished graphics / food demonstration room.
The curriculum area is committed to developing well rounded, creative designers and well-equipped practitioners. Pupils in our school experience a breadth of opportunity including rapid prototyping and 3D scanning, lasercutting, smart materials and the opportunity to take D&T beyond the walls of the classroom, whether that be through local competitions or collaborating with prestigious institutions and organisations!
Excellent outcomes and expanding numbers of pupils studying at KS4 make joining the team at this exciting time a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate. This role offers the successful applicant an opportunity to join a thriving area of the school and become part of a cohesive, forward-thinking and ambitious team.
Applications are welcomed from confident, aspirational teachers who will share our passion for high quality pedagogy informed by the latest research. A thirst for championing technology across all aspects of the school is vital, along with the enthusiasm and commitment to continue to drive forward at this exciting time.
