We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Sales to join our team at The Johnstown Estate. Ideally, the candidate will have hotel sales experience and a strong portfolio of accounts in the MICE market. We are looking for someone with a drive for success and a commitment to seize every opportunity to achieve exceptional results.
About The Role
Duties and Responsibilities of the Role:
1. Assist with the development, and proactively implement the annual MICE sales plan for the hotel.
2. Manage own portfolio of existing and new local and national accounts in the MICE market.
3. Soliciting new business in the domestic MICE market from corporates, charities, associations, institutions including national conferences, meetings and events, and award ceremonies.
4. Identify and develop new business in the corporate groups segment targeting domestic clients.
5. Participating and supporting hotel Sales teams with customer visits, site inspections, and large-scale events.
6. Oversee contract negotiations and ensure all event details meet client expectations and hotel standards.
7. Create Sales forecasts and actively work towards reaching them in line with the hotel’s budget.
8. Support the Sales team by providing guidance and training to achieve departmental goals.
9. Participate in weekly executive meetings to align sales strategies.
10. Monitor market trends and competitor activities to adjust sales strategies accordingly.
11. Work closely with the Revenue Management team to optimize room occupancy and average daily rates.
12. Analyse sales performance and provide insights into revenue forecasting and budget planning.
13. Utilize CRM systems to maintain accurate records of sales activities and client information.
14. Work closely with the various departments within the hotel to ensure seamless guest experience.
15. Represent the brand while attending networking & industry events to build strong connections with potential clients.
16. Attend training courses/seminars as required.
17. Maintain strict confidentiality in line with the company General Data Protection Regulation Policy and Confidentiality Agreement.

1. Sales & Negotiation: Strong ability to drive sales strategies, negotiate contracts, and close high-value deals.
2. Leadership and Team Management: Proficient in leading and motivating sales teams to achieve targets and deliver exceptional results.
3. Customer Relationship Management: Skilled in building and maintaining long-term relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
4. Revenue Management: Ability to analyse market trends and competitor data to optimize pricing and maximize revenue.
5. Communication and Presentation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of delivering compelling presentations and reports.
Requirements for the Role:
1. Proven experience in a high-paced sales environment, ideally within hospitality.
2. At least 2 years proactive hotel sales experience, hotel proactive MICE Sales experience is preferred.
3. Highly motivated, energetic, and ready to go the extra mile.
4. A strong track record of driving revenue and achieving targets.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to meet deadlines.
6. Have the ability to articulate and present ideas effectively.
7. Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
9. Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business priorities.
