Job Description:
Synergy Plus Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Department Power & Cabling to join a leading company based in Milton Keynes. This is a key role for an individual who can manage and oversee power distribution, cabling systems, and technical operations for large-scale events, ensuring exceptional service delivery. As the Head of Department Power & Cabling, you will play a crucial role in the success of each project, managing the department's activities and providing technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Department Oversight:
As Head of Department Power & Cabling, you will lead, manage, and develop the Power & Cabling team, ensuring all staff members are equipped to deliver exceptional service and meet technical requirements for events. Foster a culture of teamwork and continuous learning within the department, and maintain high performance standards across the board.
2. Power & Cabling Design and Implementation:
Oversee the planning and execution of power and cabling installations for a wide variety of events, including corporate functions, exhibitions, festivals, and conferences. Collaborate closely with event organizers to ensure power systems are designed to meet specific technical and safety requirements.
3. Project and Equipment Management:
Lead the management of power and cabling resources, including logistics, setup, and ongoing monitoring, ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget. Ensure all equipment is well-maintained, and troubleshooting is carried out promptly during events to avoid disruptions.
4. Client Relations and Service Delivery:
Act as the primary contact for clients regarding power and cabling needs, providing expert advice and building strong, lasting relationships. Ensure all client requirements are fully understood and that your team delivers technical solutions that exceed client expectations.
5. Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Ensure that all electrical work complies with relevant safety standards and regulations, conducting regular safety checks and risk assessments on-site. Ensure your department follows best practices when handling high-voltage equipment and cabling.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
1. Experience:
Proven experience in power distribution, cabling, or electrical engineering, ideally in the events or live production sectors. At least 3-5 years in a leadership or senior technical role, with experience managing a team. Familiarity with large-scale event power and cabling needs, including load management and electrical safety systems.
2. Technical Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of power distribution and cabling systems for events. Strong understanding of electrical regulations, safety standards, and best practices for live events.
3. Leadership and Communication:
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective coordination with other departments and client-facing roles.
4. Project Management:
Strong project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and ensuring projects meet deadlines and quality standards.
5. Qualifications:
Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering or a related field (e.g., City & Guilds, HND, or degree). Certifications such as PAT testing, IPAF, or other relevant electrical safety qualifications would be advantageous.

Schedule:
Day shifts worked 5 days out of 7 between the hours of 06:00 hrs and 20:00 hrs. Overtime is required during peak periods. Weekend availability may be needed.
