Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen based in Powys, Mid Wales based in one of two child development centres providing multidisciplinary services alongside experienced paediatric nursing and allied health professionals. You will join two highly motivated, consultant community paediatricians covering South and Mid Powys and enjoy high levels of continuity of care and job satisfaction.
The paediatricians contribute to an integrated nationally agreed multidisciplinary neurodevelopmental assessment pathway, Powys is piloting a Cerebral Palsy register for Wales to improving care and outcomes. We work closely with CAMHS and with an Integrated Disability Service with multiagency representation. An interest in Adoption, Fostering and Looked After Children (LAC) would be welcome. We have good specialist nurse support and administration for assessment and ongoing care for LAC children. Qualifications
Essential
1. Full registration with the General Medical Council. MRCPCH or equivalent
2. Entry on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining a UK CCT for General and community Paediatrics
3. A CCT or CESR-CP in General paediatrics without Community Child Health (CCH) is only acceptable if the applicant can show how they have acquired the Level 3 CCH competencies.
Desirable
4. Higher degree MSc, MD or other higher degree DCH, DCCH, MBA or other relevant diplomas
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Essential
5. Wide experience, knowledge and skills in Community Paediatrics including expertise in complex neurodisability.
6. Knowledge of child protection and experience in managing child abuse and neglect
7. Level 3 or higher formal training in Child Protection
8. Experience of working with multidisciplinary and multiagency teams
9. Competency in the assessment of paediatric development.
10. A good understanding of the special educational needs system
11. Usually, at least 2 years General Professional Training in paediatrics. Usually 5 years Higher Specialist Training, including 3 years in Community Paediatrics. Training is competency based, but a certain level of experience is expected.
Desirable
12. Experience or training in one or more of the following areas: Child mental health, public health, general practice, adoption and fostering.
13. Formal training in the use of developmental assessment tools, Griffiths, SOGS or similar
Knowledge

14. Knowledge of the role of clinical governance in current clinical practice Understanding of clinical risk management Ability to mentor staff
15. Understanding of management issues including medical management; clinical governance, service planning and quality improvement
