General Purpose of Job:
Monitors sterilizers and environment for sterilization, and processes instruments and supplies for use and reuse in a safe and timely manner to meet surgical and other patient care needs within the hospital.
Education and/or Experience:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
* Related hospital experience of minimum of 1 year in care of instruments, equipment or supplies, preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
* Certification by AHCSP preferred

* Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
* Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
* Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
* Break down and decontaminate instruments following procedure according to protocols.
* Set up trays and prepare for sterilization.
* Sterilize instruments and supplies according to Operating Room, Central Processing and manufacturer protocols and standards.
* Monitors sterilization process and maintains daily, permanent record of sterilization parameters according to hospital protocols and local, state and AAMI standards.
* Maintains a clean environment by following daily cleaning protocol.
* Maintains inventory of supplies and instruments.
* Other duties as assigned.
