We are excited to invite enthusiastic and proactive Registered Nursing Associates to join our Critical Care team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Department of Critical Care (DCC) spans two hospital sites: Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals. The role requires working across both locations. We are proud to announce that DCC recently received a Gold rating during an Accredited Clinical Environments (ACE) inspection.

Your main duties will include:
1. Providing high-quality nursing care to patients admitted to critical care and offering support to their loved ones, ensuring safe and effective practice.
2. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to provide continuous care to a specific group of patients from admission to discharge.
3. Supervising and mentoring other staff members and learners as appropriate.
4. Maintaining and developing your personal skills with ongoing support.
5. Provision of compassionate, safe and effective care and support to patients in the critical care setting.
6. Monitoring the condition and health needs of patients on a continual basis in partnership with patients, families and carers, ensuring appropriate escalation to a registered nurse.
7. Providing effective evidence-based care under the supervision of registered nurses in order to perform complex and non-complex activities.
8. Recognising the effects of medicines, allergies, drug sensitivity, side effects, contraindications and adverse reactions.
9. Undertaking safe and effective administration and optimisation of medicines in accordance with Trust policy and the NMC Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates.
10. Monitoring the condition and health needs of patients within their care following administration of medications.
11. Complying with Trust policy in relation to any safety-critical medicines to be administered by Nursing Associates.
12. Supporting, supervising, teaching (where appropriate) and acting as a role model to trainee nursing associates, student nurses, healthcare support workers and new staff members, promoting reflection and providing constructive feedback.
13. Establishing and maintaining effective communication with patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team.
14. Engaging in a preceptorship period that includes achieving the Nursing Associate Medicines Management Competency framework.
15. Maintaining own continuing professional development in accordance with NMC CPD requirements and contributing to formulation of own objectives and personal development plan.
16. Adopting a reflective approach to own practice with a view to continually improve.
17. Undertaking further training as required, prior to carrying out any additional duties identified as relevant to the role, to comply with Trust policies and procedures.
18. Developing knowledge and practice in any area of work required by the role.
19. Monitoring and maintaining health, safety and security of self and others in own work area.
20. Maintaining clear and accurate written records relevant to practice.
