Job Description:
We are a dynamic video game startup based in Cambridge, UK, dedicated to creating immersive and innovative gaming experiences. We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help us develop and maintain our cutting-edge game technologies and systems.
As a Senior Software Engineer (Generalist), you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of game engineering tasks. This role requires broad interest and knowledge across multiple disciplines, as opposed to our other job listings which are more specialised.
Responsibilities
1. Develop and manage new features throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial concept to final release.
2. Work directly on Unreal Engine and our infrastructure and distributed systems across a variety of platforms and programming languages.
3. Debug, profile, and optimise code on a variety of platforms.
4. Work effectively with other game development disciplines, including art and design.
5. Contribute to and drive new technical architecture and design.
Qualifications
1. 5+ years professional experience in software development.
2. Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals.
3. Strong skills in a variety of programming languages (such as C++, Java, Golang, C#)
4. Experience shipping code to a production environment.
5. Experience with game development.
6. Experience with multi-platform development and deployment.
7. Experience using version control software (e.g. Git / P4)
8. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Bonus Skills
1. Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
2. Experience using Unreal Engine.
3. Experience working on and shipping live service games.
4. Experience working on microservices and distributed systems.
