What skills and experience we're looking for
Train to become a Primary Teacher (Special) with the Greenwood Academies Trust and benefit from a tailored package of support and development from outstanding, experienced teachers and tutors.
In conjunction with our accredited provider, Best Practice Network, the Trust is offering this Post Graduate Teacher Apprenticeship (PGTA) to start in September 2025. Based at our brand new Tiffield Academy, opening in September 2025, trainees will study for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Training sessions are delivered online each week so you won't need to travel for seminars and lectures. Your training fees will be covered by our GAT apprenticeship levy and you will earn a salary on the Unqualified Teacher scale while you work towards QTS.
Since 2013 we have successfully trained over 250 teachers through academy-based ITT, with many former trainees now in positions of leadership.
In order to apply you must have:
• Significant experience of working with autistic students who have severe learning difficulties (SLD) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and maths (and science for Primary)
• UK Honours Degree at 2:2 or above
• UK ENIC comparability certification for overseas Degree/GCSE equivalence
• British citizenship or have lived in the UK on a permanent basis for the last three years (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
The successful candidate will also be required to complete a DfE application and further selection process with Best Practice Network prior to offer.

Tiffield Academy will be the newest addition to the special academy portfolio within the very successful Greenwood Academies Trust. The academy will open its doors in September 2025 welcoming up to 140 students in its first year and growing to 230 students over subsequent years.
