Role Context: The Counterparty Risk team provides second line risk oversight coverage across all business areas within the firm for both liquid and private markets. The team sits within M&G Investment & Credit Risk For Private Markets Team (the “Team”) alongside the fixed income, equity and multi-asset investment risk teams, reporting directly into the M&G CRO, which has the responsibility for independent, comprehensive, consistent and efficient investment and credit risk oversight for the M&G’s Private Assets & Alternatives business. Responsibilities: Analysis of counterparty and credit exposures arising in the course of daily activities across all asset classes, investigation of daily exceptions and management of credit risk data from various source systems. Maintaining a credit view on M&G’s counterparty universe of global rated banks, brokers, securities houses and investment managers. Perform credit risk assessments on the invested credit portfolio within the asset owner business. Production of management information/ reports and assist in the implementation of credit risk systems. Decision making and monitoring in an effective and timely manner with a clear focus on risk with the recommending of credit limits. Develop tools for credit exposure analysis. Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders across the firm. Providing support across various projects within the counterparty risk team Work Level Accountabilities: Accountable for delivering expert service, using specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise. Applies rigour to deliver outcomes, considering the impact for customers, cost and risk. Manages conflicts that may impact delivery. Identifies and anticipates need for changes to continuously improve quality and efficiency of output. Champions high standards of collaboration within the Team and with other stakeholders across the organisation. Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience: Must have a good understanding of the varying degrees of risk within a wide range of asset classes, including derivatives and associated ISDA documentation. Strong technical knowledge in credit/counterparty risk management and financial analysis A degree in a numerate discipline. High levels of numeracy and report writing skills. Attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines are essential Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Experience: Analytical and investigative approach. Ability to set own priorities and deadlines and respond to requests from business areas in a timely and professional manner. Strong IT skills (Excel, Word, VBA, Powerpoint), SQL and Python desirable but not essential Experience with using market leading systems (Thomson Reuters Refinitiv, Aladdin, Bloomberg) would be a distinct advantage. The ability to think creatively and analytically. Strong communication skills and comfortable dealing with colleagues at all levels. Must be self-motivated and a good team player.
