GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Secondary English Teacher to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Eastleigh, Hampshire. Qualified Teachers (QTS/ECT), overseas-trained professionals, and experienced Teaching Assistants/Cover Supervisors looking to pursue a teaching role are all encouraged to apply.
Role Overview
As a Secondary English Teacher, you will play a crucial role in delivering engaging and inspiring lessons, fostering a deep appreciation for language and literature among students. Your teaching will encourage creativity, critical thinking, and strong communication skills, equipping students with the tools they need for academic and personal success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver innovative and practical lessons in English, aligned with the national curriculum.
* Encouraging students to develop confidence in reading, writing, and speaking.
* Assessing and tracking student progress, providing tailored support and feedback.
* Supporting students with SEN and EAL needs, adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
* Collaborating with colleagues to enhance the English curriculum and share best practices.
* Engaging in school-wide literacy initiatives and extracurricular activities.
* Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) is a must with a specialisation in English or a related subject.
* Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level.
* Experienced Teaching Assistants or Cover Supervisors looking to transition into teaching will also be considered.
* A strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching English.
* Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
* The ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
