Job summary This is a maternity cover post, and an exciting and rare opportunity to provide leadership to the Severn Major Trauma Network and Southmead Major Trauma Centre and improve major trauma outcomes across the whole patient pathway - from point of injury to rehabilitation. NHS England Operational Delivery Networks (ODNs) exist in order to improve care across a regional basis for patients within their scope of practice. The post-holder will be a key member of the Major Trauma Team based at the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital. Working alongside Clinical leads the role will be accountable for leading and managing the major trauma pathways delivered both in the MTCs, HART and Severn Major Trauma Network. The Network Manager will work collaboratively with key stakeholders across whole pathways; locally, regionally and nationally to develop and sustain efficient, effective and high-quality services capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements and Trauma Care standards for safe and efficient patient care. The post holder will support transformational change, quality improvements, and value using effective and sustainable approaches, within and across organisations; to improve the quality and experience for patients receiving care and interventions following major trauma (injury or accident) within the Network and at the MTC. Main duties of the job Work within the wider ODN teams, and Specialised Commissioning, undertaking a key role in supporting service improvement and transformation, ensuring right care, right place, right time for our patients and families. Produce an annual work programme for the Network and Major Trauma Team. Lead on the delivery of that work programme based on Specialised Commissioning National, Regional and Local priorities (agreed by the entire network membership and Network Programme Board); reporting of progress towards delivery of the work programme at both ODN and Partnership Board. Lead the network team and be responsible for its performance and holding to account to ensure delivery against plan. Develop and maintain effective network structures / groups that enable the delivery of the ODN work programme: engaging and facilitating multi-professional teams from a range of health professionals and allied groups, including patient groups and national and local voluntary agencies. Provide leadership and support for all staff in the Major Trauma Team. Responsible for budgets/ matching the available budget to the appropriate staff resources and projects; ensuring that the budget breaks even, co-ordinating and monitoring expenditure.
