Line Leader
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Driscoll’s is seeking Line Leaders to join the team at our Packhouse site, based in Linton, Kent. This role requires flexibility with working hours, including weekends and longer hours as needed. Earliest start time is 7am, latest finish time is 9pm. Pay rate is £12.54 per hour, with any weekly hours over 40 paid at an overtime rate of £18.81 per hour.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
1. Ensure product is packed efficiently, adhering to customer requirements, within a safe environment. Ensure all packaging and labels are available to improve production flow and speed of changeovers. Follow all set procedures and ensure correct data entry within PR3. Understand and influence positive stock control, both physically and within the PR3 system. Be responsible for the LSO (Line Support Operative). Promote continuous improvement through positive communication and people management.
2. Responsible for all activities affecting product safety, legality, authenticity, quality, and brand integrity in accordance with site policies and procedures.
3. Maintain standards of health & safety, hygiene, and security. Adhere to environmental practices.
4. Exhibit Driscoll’s values of passion, humility, and trustworthiness in all interactions.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Continuously train and motivate employees on their line, ensuring everyone is aware of efficiency, quality standards, hygiene policy, and health & safety.
2. Liaise with QA & product allocation team regarding potential raw material quality issues.
3. Manage and lead the LSO and production operatives, including performance monitoring, coaching, training, and developing a multi-skilled production team.
4. Challenge and improve all KPIs set in the packhouse.
5. Ensure best utilization of raw materials during packing to meet estimated outturn levels and fulfill customer quality expectations.
6. Ensure all packed products meet customer specifications, including quality, labeling, temperature, and weight.
7. Adhere to and log all systems and procedures as required. Correct data entry into PR3 is key.
8. Ensure awareness of Health and Safety rules and adherence by all employees in the packhouse.
9. Drive continuous improvement and innovation within processes, working environment, and departmental relationships.
10. Adhere to the clean as you go policy, keeping the working area clean and tidy.
11. Plan for smooth changeovers and guide the LSO to meet target changeover times.
12. Ensure compliance with the company hygiene policy by all packhouse workers.
13. Ensure packing lines achieve target efficiency levels and all employees meet target speeds (UPPPM).
14. Facilitate effective inter-departmental communications.
15. Provide clear and timely communication to the team regarding product specifications, quality issues, and customer feedback.
16. Manage labor resources (both Driscoll’s and agency) to achieve performance standards.
17. Work on the production line to encourage and motivate team members.
18. Ensure technical and legislative requirements are met during production.
19. Lead by example in adherence to food safety, hygiene, and H&S processes.
20. Proactively manage operational H&S aspects for staff, equipment, and premises.
21. Raise any issues with the Production Management Team.
22. Other ad hoc duties as required.
