Senior Speech and Language Therapist (Fylde Coast)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our supportive team and facilitate effective communication for all.
This post involves delivery of speech and language therapy services within mainstream schools and specialist resource bases on the Fylde Coast providing SLT services for children with SLCN and Special Educational Needs.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will work within our team of SLTs and SLT Assistants and the multi-disciplinary team within schools. They will have the opportunity to shape the services that Communicate SLT offers across the North West.
The focus of this role will be in supporting universal best practice within the settings and providing services directly and through others, to support the children and young people to reach their full potential.
We are happy to receive applications from SLTs wanting to develop their skills over time with the support and training we provide. We would be equally happy to hear from SLTs with highly relevant knowledge, skills and experience.

Job responsibilities

Core responsibilities:
* To provide speech and language therapy services to children, directly and through support to their families and the multi-disciplinary team.
* Provide speech, language and communication assessments for pupils/prospective pupils in consultation with the multi-disciplinary team and other SLTs and SLTAs.
* Keep accurate records and provide written reports.
* Set targets for therapy and monitor progress.
* Provide intervention on an individual or group basis as required.
* Develop and demonstrate SLT programmes and groups for pupils.
* Hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision.
* Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the planning, development and delivery of an effective and efficient service.
* Participate in clinical supervision within the team via regular meetings, supervision, mentoring and appraisals.
* Engage in continuing professional development and implement service improvements and evidence-based practice.
* Support the induction, supervision and support of SLTAs and volunteers.
* Develop SLT services and training.
* Evaluate and monitor services to demonstrate impact and quality of services.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Degree or Masters. Registration with RCSLT and HCPC.
* Training relevant to role, e.g. Elklan, Communication Boards etc.
Experience
* Experience working within schools and as part of a multi-agency team. Experience working with children with autistic spectrum disorder.
* 3 or more years experience working as an SLT with children with special educational needs.
* Experience of using AAC including signing and Communication Boards.
* Completed Newly Qualified Professional competencies.
