Principal Applications Operations Engineer
We are looking for a dynamic experienced Principal Applications Operations Engineer to join our team at DHCW. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the instigation, management, and operation of services within a specific application area at Digital Health and Care Wales.
The role will involve strategic planning and overseeing a team of senior product specialists, development professionals, and support staff to ensure the smooth delivery of projects and services.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the delivery/ performance of DHCW services in a specific application area.
Oversee management and development of senior product specialists, development teams, support staff within the application area.
Identify and implement service improvements and support change initiatives to enhance service delivery.
Act as an enabler of change, driving innovation and transformation in digital healthcare services.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of applications with broader NHS systems and initiatives.

Person Specification
Qualifications and/or Knowledge
* Master's degree in an associated professional field (or equivalent qualification / experience).
* Practical experience, working at this level, across the range of work procedures and practices.
Experience
* Significant experience as a Senior Manager within software development and information systems services, with a track record of successfully managing and delivering highly complex software projects.
* Substantial experience of leading a team of specialists, working with relational databases and a specific application toolset.
* Proficient in methods and techniques for the assessment and management of business risk including safety-related risk.
* Familiar with methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects.
* Familiar with the effective and efficient routine deployment of resources, (but also including reassessment and reallocation in a dynamic multi-project environment), to achieve optimum results.
Skills and Attributes
* Welsh language skills are desirable level 1 or above in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Welsh.
