Ensure that planned preventative maintenance tasks are completed to the expected standards. Use the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to log faults and report potential defects, analyse fault information, and record hours and materials used. Develop prioritised plans for maintenance activity ensuring that maintenance windows are fully utilised. Develop preventative maintenance instructions based on breakdown history and root-cause analysis. Assist with mechanical breakdown activity and planned maintenance tasks, including interrogation of computer software to ensure fault diagnosis. Use predictive maintenance techniques such as thermo-graphic imaging, ultrasound and vibration analysis as well as experience, skill and judgement to make regular assessments of the plant condition. Mechanical technicians are responsible for their own and others safety; ensure all safety procedures are adhered to and be involved in improving and developing procedures, carry out risk assessments and safety inspections. Ensure that all environmental objectives are met and work with others to minimise the impact that the operation has on the environment. Ensure all food safety and quality requirements are met. Work with others to continually improve the food safety and quality systems including completion of internal audits and plant inspections. Ensure housekeeping standards are continually improved by carrying out cleaning in line with specific cleaning schedules, as identified during audits and by self-inspection of the plant conditions. Complete all documentation accurately and as required by site procedures. Help to manage stores and spare part inventory. Training will be provided to enable the incumbent to develop all the skills necessary to carry out all tasks safely and effectively. Qualifications, Skills & Experience Educated to “A” level / HNC standard in engineering subjects. Must have Experience. Apprentice trained in instrumentation & electrical. The position will entail some element of manual handling and as such it is vital that the candidate is in general good health and has an average level of fitness. The incumbent needs to access all areas of the plant some of which are at high levels with open floors. It is important therefore that the candidate does not suffer from vertigo or any other such height related restriction.
