Job summary
We are inviting experienced CT radiographers to be a partner with Cobalt in delivering the NHS England National Targeted Lung Cancer Screening Programme in Luton and Thurrock, as well as routine CT imaging.
As a Cobalt CT radiographer, your high level of professionalism, technical skills, and strong patient care will reflect the charitys values and ensure a safe, reliable and efficient CT service is maintained for all patients.
Main duties of the job
You will carry out day to day scanning on Cobalt mobile CT units supporting a wide range of CT examinations, including lung cancer screening, using the latest Siemens CT technology. You will ensure a safe reliable and efficient CT service is maintained and you will undertake modality specific imaging procedures efficiently and effectively for all patients; adhering to the best practice of radiographic technique. At all times you will maintain a high level of professionalism and technical standard of work, complying with relevant Codes of Practice.
1. To have highly specialist knowledge of all CT specific procedures
2. Undertaking supervised imaging procedures in line with specific clinical guidelines and protocols
3. Protocol the patient referrals in line with the departmental guidelines
4. Run Quality Assurance checks on equipment, and action as appropriate
5. Ensure due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients
6. Undertake examinations in line with the patient referrals adhering to departmental guidelines
7. To be proficient in all aspects of CT and image transfer for remote reporting where required
8. Manipulate and position all patients providing immobilisation when required
9. Handle and operate highly Specialised and expensive equipment
10. Evaluate any imaging equipment malfunctions during an examination and provide an immediate solution
11. Provide advice and supervision to other radiographers encountering such a situation
12. Maintain professional competencies and CPD

Job Purpose:

To undertake modality specific imaging procedures efficiently and effectively for all patients; adhering to best practice of radiographic technique. Maintaining a high level of professionalism and technical standard of work, complying with relevant Codes of Practice.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
Operational Duties
To have highly specialist knowledge of all CT specific procedures
13. Undertaking supervised imaging procedures in line with existing modality specific clinical guidelines and protocols (IR(ME)R 2000, Code of Clinical Practice) Protocol the patient referrals in line with the departmental guidelines
14. Run Quality Assurance checks on equipment, and action as appropriate
15. Ensures due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and to ensure patient views are sought and taken into account
16. Undertake examinations in line with the patient referrals adhering to departmental guidelines
17. To be proficient in all aspects of CT and image transfer for remote reportingwhere required
18. To hold the appropriate cannulation qualification
19. Manipulate and position all patients providing immobilisation when required
20. Handle and operate highly specialised and expensive equipment
21. Should imaging equipment malfunction during an examination evaluate the situationand provide an immediate solution
22. Maintain professional competencies and CPD

Administrative
26. Ensure timely image transfer

29. Adhere to all operational procedures as outlined by the charity (daily returns, timesheets, private mileage returns, etc)
30. Maintain a high level of professionalism, customer care, and service provision
31. Report all incidents and complaints in line with the charitys policies and procedures
32. Adhere to the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
33. Ensure the smooth flow of clinical and administrative work
34. Effectively communicate and appropriately respond to all visitors

36. To monitor essential stocks and re order as required
37. Maintain a clean and safe working environment
38. Comply with ISO standards in respect of Information Security Management
39. Assist in the training and support of new members of staff

41. To assist with any other reasonable requests as instructed by the Superintendent Radiographer and PET/CT and CT Manager
42. Assist in production and preparation of image data for publications and presentations
Management of Resources
43. To support the Superintendent CT Radiographer with the organisation of all maintenance of mobile CT scanners, radiology and peripheral equipment
44. To maintain stock and supplies and inventory as directed by the Superintendent CT Radiographer

Personal Development
