Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Creative Musician/Music Therapist to join our Living Well Team at Hospice in the Weald. This is a Fixed Term Contract to cover Parental Leave for a period of 12 months. Full time and part time will be considered.
The Living Well Service is aimed at people in their last years of life, as well as the people who are important to them. We focus on supporting people to feel empowered to make choices based on the things that matter most to them. We offer 6-month individualised programmes for people based on what matters most. Programmes include exercise and rehabilitation groups, creative arts sessions, gardening groups, singalong and music groups, as well as complementary therapies and relaxation.
As the Hospice Creative Musician/Music Therapist, you will work across all services at the Hospice, leading on creative music sessions including singalong groups and music expression sessions, as well as leadership of our Hospice choir group who meet twice a month at the Hospice.
You will also be providing support to people on a 1-2-1 basis with personalised music projects, memory making, and creating lasting legacies. The post holder will be part of the hospice multidisciplinary team (MDT) and will operate on an individual basis, and in groups, within the Hospice and out in the wider community. You will be responsible for leading and managing all those involved with creative music groups and projects, including volunteers. A qualification in Supervision would be advantageous, but not essential.
You will be working as part of a dedicated, hard-working, and responsive team to deliver much-needed holistic, person-centred support to people in their last years of life, alongside the people important to them, including bereaved loved ones. While having previous experience of working in palliative care/End of Life settings would be advantageous, we welcome interest from anyone looking to gain experience within this area. Training and support will be provided.
This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with a background in Creative Music or Music Therapy to join our team. We are keen to hear from qualified Music Therapists as well as those currently working towards their Music Therapy qualification. You will have the opportunity to make a huge difference to people living with life-limiting illness in our community.
Benefits include free parking and a generous holiday allowance with the ability to buy and sell additional holiday. You can view more information about our range of benefits here .
