Urgent and Emergency Care Assistant Service Manager

The post holder will be a key member of the Divisional Management Team and will have a range of responsibilities supporting the Divisional Management team by providing operational management to the Emergency Department (ED), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), Medical Day Unit (MDU), and Acute Care Unit (ACU).
The will be responsible for several key areas, including the support of Urgent Care Services. They will work closely with the divisional management team in the operational management of its clinical services. Within the management of the division, they will have a role in operational management, and in the management of staff.
Main duties of the job
* Line manage the Urgent Care Rota Coordination. They will provide effective leadership to the administrative team, supporting them to ensure the service rotas are maintained to a high standard, having oversight of any staffing issues, and escalating to the Service Manager.
* Work closely with the divisional management team and the Trust clinical governance team to ensure compliance with existing clinical governance systems and processes. This will involve regular review of incidents, complaints and PALs inquiries within the division and appropriate follow-up. The post holder will provide practical support to both the divisional management team and the clinical teams, in order to enable them to respond to and close incidents, complaints and PALs inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner.
* Liaise with both the management team and clinical colleagues to collect and submit data relating to a number of Trust data requirements. The Assistant Service Manager will be required to liaise with clinical teams and service managers to ensure complete and timely data submission.
* Provide practical support to the divisional management team in terms of assisting in the production of specialty-specific service reports, taking minutes for the divisional management team meeting and other ad hoc divisional meetings as required.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* University degree in a relevant discipline OR equivalent certificate/diploma in management/leadership or equivalent experience.
* IT courses completed in Excel and Access or equivalent experience.
Skills / Abilities
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and motivate clinical teams.
* Teamwork and leadership skills.
* Excellent IT skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
