Job overview
We have an opportunity for a Band 6 Community Practitioner to join the Psychiatric liaison team based at Sunderland Royal Hospital. We offer a 24/7 service into a multi-site acute care hospital.
This role involves working in fast-paced environments including Accident and Emergency and acute in-patient wards.
You will be responsible for undertaking biopsychosocial assessments, delivering brief interventions, and liaising with other health and social care services.
Main duties of the job
In Liaison psychiatry, staff undertake comprehensive biopsychosocial mental health assessments alongside robust risk and collaborative safety planning.
* Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
* Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
* Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options.
* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Evidence of a high level of professional, organisational and leadership skills.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent.
* Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/psychological interventions relevant to the post.
* Proven track record of post-registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
* Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, and Child Protection.
* Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
Knowledge and Experience
* 12 to 24 months band 5 qualified nurse experience.
* Awareness and understanding of professional accountability and NMC standards.
Skills and Competencies
* Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments.
* Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
