About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified and reliable Site Supervisor (SSSTS) to oversee operations at a prison construction project in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring site safety, coordinating site activities, and assisting the project manager with site operations.
This is a 6-month contract position, ideal for a candidate with the necessary certifications and the ability to work effectively in a high-security environment. EL1 Clearance is a mandatory requirement for this role due to the nature of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and manage day-to-day site operations to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
* Ensure all site activities are conducted in accordance with SSSTS regulations and procedures.
* Monitor site access, security protocols, and control site risks, particularly in a prison environment.
* Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
* Implement safe working practices and promote a strong safety culture on site.
* Coordinate and support subcontractors and workers on-site, ensuring all tasks are performed according to schedule.
* Liaise with the project manager to report on site progress, health and safety compliance, and any issues that arise.
* Ensure all personnel on site hold the correct certifications and follow site protocols.
Requirements:
* SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification is essential.
* Valid ECS (Electrotechnical Certification Scheme) or CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
* Current First Aid certification.
* EL1 Clearance (Essential for working in secure environments such as prisons).
* Previous experience in a supervisory role on construction sites (preferably in a high-security environment) is advantageous but not required.
* Strong understanding of site safety regulations and the ability to enforce them.
* Ability to work under pressure and handle potentially challenging situations.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable:
* Previous experience working within a prison environment or secure facility.
* Knowledge of construction industry safety standards and protocols.
