Senior Governance Officer We are seeking three Senior Governance Officers to join a dynamic and dedicated team, supporting the democratic and decision-making processes of a local government Council. This is a key role within the Committee, Member, and Executive Support Service, ensuring the smooth operation of governance functions. With a hybrid working model available, you will have the flexibility to work both remotely and in-office while providing essential support for Council meetings, committees, and decision-making bodies. Key Responsibilities Meeting Coordination & Administration – Oversee the scheduling, coordination, and servicing of Cabinet, Committee, and Sub-Committee meetings, including quasi-judicial hearings and partnership meetings. Governance & Compliance – Ensure meetings adhere to legislative requirements and the Council’s Constitution while providing procedural, legal, and constitutional advice to members. Agenda & Report Preparation – Compile, review, and distribute meeting agendas, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Draft reports and correspondence as required. Meeting Attendance & Support – Attend in-person and hybrid meetings, typically in the evenings, ensuring all necessary documentation is available and supporting decision-making processes. Expert Guidance – Provide high-quality advice on democratic and decision-making processes, ensuring governance best practices are upheld across the organisation. Process Improvement – Contribute to enhancing operational efficiencies, ensuring meetings are effectively managed and business planning is optimised.Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required Strong knowledge of governance, democratic processes, and relevant legislation. Experience in servicing and managing high-profile meetings within a public sector or governance-focused environment. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to strict deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and liaising with senior stakeholders. Ability to provide sound procedural, legal, and constitutional advice during meetings.
