It’s an exciting time to join us! RWE Supply & Trading has recently introduced a new cloud based data analytics platform and as part of a new and expanding team we are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to play a key role in expanding our platform capability.
Market Data is the fuel for decision making, automated trading and fundamental analysis within the Energy Trading industry. In your role as a Platform Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the Platform and Infrastructure of Data IT meets the need for our business and leverages the latest technologies. You will interact closely with different business areas as well as our team.
You will apply your expertise in AWS to ensure robust data services and help us future-proof our architecture from a security and technological perspective.

Your future responsibilities
1. Help to shape the future Data platform and steer the platform strategy in Data IT.
2. Develop and integrate the platform services using maintainable infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions using Terraform across multiple AWS accounts.
3. Be a specialist for cloud architecture and cloud native solutions, define tools, designs, architecture and work with several vendors in the market to take ownership of technical roll-outs.
4. Provide value-added services on existing tooling and foster standardization across Data IT.
5. Collaborate with the team to improve service reliability, scalability, and stability across our end-to-end data platform.
6. Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack, software, hardware, cloud, and infrastructure.
7. Ensure compliance with security standards and robust backup plans.
8. Educate and collaborate with the team on SQL Server best practices, building up database knowledge.
9. Be a real technical problem solver, able to create solutions for complex requirements with a hands-on attitude.
10. Keep up to date with new trends in Data Analytics, always looking for new solutions to solve complex problems.
11. Expertise in AWS Services and capabilities.
12. Containers and orchestration frameworks: Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS etc.
13. Experience in Infrastructure and Platform as a Service environments.
14. Understanding of operational aspects like high availability, monitoring, security, robustness.
15. Reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules with Terraform.
16. CI/CD Pipelines: Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitLab, or similar platforms.
17. Experience with managing multi-account AWS environments.
18. Knowledge of Data storage solutions using relational databases such as MS SQL, S3.
19. Understanding of MS SQL Server and its underlying concepts and technologies.
20. Understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
21. Good communication skills both written and verbal.
