Overview
As part of a small and friendly administration team, your area of responsibility will be supporting the project managers to purchase the resources needed to deliver environmental projects within budget and on time. Cain Bio-Engineering is a specialist in river restoration, erosion control, and wetland creation, so purchases will range from hiring a tree surgeon to lifejackets and screwdrivers.
This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours), but part-time work may also be considered, and there is some flexibility on hours.
The company office is on the edge of the New Forest, just north of Fordingbridge.
The successful applicant will need to be able to communicate clearly, work efficiently and accurately, and have great attention to detail. Day-to-day tasks will include:
Responsibilities
1. Maintaining the company’s purchase order system, liaising with suppliers and ensuring appropriate approval of purchases and invoices.
2. Researching and vetting potential suppliers.
3. Obtaining quotes and raising purchase orders as required.
4. Ensuring timely deliveries and confirming quantities and quality on receipt.
5. Checking supplier invoices.
6. Working with management and suppliers to resolve errors or disputes in a timely and just manner.
7. Liaising with project managers and site staff to ensure purchased site resources are optimised and best value.
8. Creating and maintaining a price index of core supplies.
9. Managing stock.
10. Supporting the administration team with ad hoc duties as required.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
1. Have a positive attitude and work ethic.
2. Be able to work in a team and unsupervised.
3. Have good interpersonal skills, and a positive and friendly telephone manner.
4. Have a high level of attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
5. Be practical and good at problem-solving.
6. Be proficient in the use of MS Office, with particular emphasis on Excel.
7. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Have GCSE Maths or above, and be confident with basic mental maths.
Desirable
1. Previous experience within procurement and bookkeeping.
