A great opportunity has arisen for a good and caring communicator with excellent interpersonal skills to supervise our friendly dynamic reception team at YorSexual Health York - part of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for our service users and should be able to demonstrate an effective level of communication, acting with empathy in what can be an emotional or difficult situation. You will need to be self-motivated and a good team player. As Reception Supervisor, you will also be first contact for staff on a day-to-day basis.
The ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day could be required for this vacancy.

Main duties of the job
Duties will include but not be limited to:
* Registering and booking patients using our stand-alone computer system.
* Providing administration support to the multidisciplinary team.
* Providing administration support to the HIV clinicians.
* Undertaking supervisory duties for the Reception team, including Annual Leave, Rotas, E-Roster.
* Liaising with clinical and admin teams to provide excellent service for all our Service Users.
* Core hours will include shifts until 8pm on a rota basis.
Experience of working in a healthcare setting and some reception knowledge would be desirable, though not essential. Supervisory or equivalent experience is desired. Full training will be given on our stand-alone IT system.

Person Specification
Knowledge, training and experience
* GCSE or equivalent in English or a good standard of written English.
* Willing to undertake any necessary training.
* Typing/word processing or experience of the same.
Communication and relationship skills
* Can communicate in a clear and understandable manner in person and on the telephone.
* Can demonstrate a non-judgmental and flexible attitude towards patients and sexual health in general.
* Ability to demonstrate self-motivation and enthusiasm and ability to use initiative when working alone.
* Able to demonstrate assertiveness and prioritise objectively.
* Ability to retrieve and carry medical records within the department.
* Accurate eyesight to permit sustained periods of work on a computer.
* Has experience of working with young people or people who may find it difficult to be clear about their needs.
* Able to work evenings and occasionally cover for holidays/sickness.
Aptitude and Personal Qualities
* Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
* Ability to recognise when patients need immediate input from staff and direct appropriately.
* Able to work as a sole receptionist supported by the clinical team.
* Friendly and approachable manner with colleagues.
