This post is being created to deliver a comprehensive Forest School Programme as an integral part of our curriculum. Forest School will seek to develop personal and social characteristics of students such as raising self-esteem, collaboration, problem-solving, assessing and managing risk, and developing leadership skills. Forest School will also make links to the current area of curriculum study if this is appropriate. These activities will include:
* Woodland based activities
* Walking
* Orienteering
* Team building activities
Major Responsibilities:
* To support the SIP standards by providing high quality outdoor learning.
* To be responsible for the planning and implementation of the Forest School Programme in a way that involves fully the people with whom you work and is based on your role as a member of the school.
* To lead and manage all aspects of the development and delivery of a Forest School programme appropriate to students of all ages and abilities. Group members may have complex needs, exhibiting barriers to learning which may include social and emotional issues.
* To deliver personalised learning opportunities within the context of Pilton's commitment to inclusivity.
* To conform to, actively commit to and promote Fremington Primary School's values and vision both with internal and external stakeholders when using any communication media including telephone, email and face-to-face.
* Any other duties commensurate with the duties/responsibilities/grade of the post. This document outlines the duties required for the time being of this post to indicate the level of responsibility. Qualifications:
* Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification plus Teaching Assistant Level 3 minimum qualification.
* Detailed knowledge of 'Outdoor Education Visits and Off-site Activities.'
* Experience working with groups of children, including those who have behavioural, emotional, and/or social difficulties (BESD) and/or special educational needs (SEN).
* Previous experience of instructing/tutoring/teaching.
* Experience delivering Forest School activities.
* Knowledge of the current national curriculum.
* Excellent knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice.
* Good understanding of the needs of pupils who have social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties.
* Good understanding of the principles of experiential learning.
Skills/Abilities:
* Ability to lead whole class groups.
* Ability to evaluate own performance and form productive relationships with young people.
* Ability to maintain up-to-date record keeping.
* Ability to lead a team and work proactively as part of a team.
* Hold a current Full UK Driving Licence.
Personal Qualities:
* Resilient under pressure.

Fremington Primary School is a large, happy school set in the large, coastal village of Fremington, just outside Barnstaple.
