Are you a Midwife who would like to develop your knowledge, skills and competency by practicing within our excellent Maternity Unit in the Wye Valley?
We would like to hear from both newly qualified Midwives and those with previous experience. All successful candidates will have a comprehensive preceptorship programme which involves supported orientation in all clinical areas and includes working with our clinic and community teams.
We support women in their birth choices; for home birth, or birth in the Obstetric Unit. Diverse experience can be gained in holistic midwifery-led care for low-risk women and babies in addition to those requiring more complex and shared care. The posts will be rotational and ongoing rotations will include practice in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, community and new continuity teams.
There will be opportunities for driven and skilled midwives to be part of our new Continuity of Carer teams that are in development who provide full continuity of care to a cohort of women in line with the local and national service developments reflecting the recommendations outlined in the 'Better Births' National Maternity review.
Salary & Banding will depend upon experience.
Main duties of the job
With the support of a specific preceptor and senior midwives, assess the care needs of women and babies, and implement and evaluate programmes of care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period. Work autonomously within the sphere of practice.
About us
Wye Valley NHS Trust is a member of an NHS Foundation Group with South Warwickshire NHS FT, the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
Located on the border with Wales in the shadow of the Black Mountains, we provide acute and community services across Herefordshire and into parts of Powys and run Hereford County Hospital and the community hospitals in Bromyard, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye.
We are a progressive and forward-looking trust with ambitious plans to improve quality and integrate patient pathways through close collaborative working with our partners to deliver the quality of care we'd want for our family and friends.
More than 3,500 people work for the Trust - they tell us it's a great place to work, blending the busyness of a DGH with the benefits of working in a beautiful rural and unspoilt county like Herefordshire.
We can offer a great work-life balance and have a fine tradition of working with staff to help them achieve their full potential.
Our values - Care, Accountability, Respect and Excellence - are at the heart of all we do. We believe in providing the right care in the right place at the right time...all the time.
