Your new company
You will work for an exciting public sector organisation. The Head of Finance role is the strategic lead for the finance department, driving and overseeing effective and high-quality financial planning, aiding the organisation in promoting itself as leading in its sector and ensuring continued growth and learning for the organisation. This role is part-time (ideally 22.5 - 30 hours per week), with agreement of hours and working pattern to be discussed at interview.
Your new role
1. To lead the finance team, ensuring it functions efficiently.
2. To be an effective and active part of the SMT, being involved in key decisions concerning the planning, implementation, review, and impact of the organisation's strategic plans.
3. Implement the organisation financial controls, policies, and procedures in regard to all activity including planning, budgeting, income generation, expenditure and reporting.
4. Ensure organisation-wide compliance with internal financial procedures and legal compliance.
5. Develop the annual budget and financial forecasting.
6. Oversee cashflow management.
7. Prepare year-end accounts and reconciliations.
8. Prepare reports for the Leadership Team and Board of Trustees analysing performance against KPIs.
What you'll need to succeed
1. Relevant qualification (AAT/ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or equivalent experience.
2. Experience of being responsible for the financial management of an organisation.
3. Experience of charity accounting and accounts preparation under SORP reporting requirements.
4. Experience of leading and developing a team.
5. Experience or knowledge of data protection and GDPR compliance.
6. Experience of overseeing payroll.
